We must tear the usual phrase from our mouths:

On this page, I’ve put together a few lists to help you stock up on essentials – make good use of them. You don’t have to follow them to the letter; they’re just reminders that you can adapt to suit your own needs and circumstances. Most of the gear I’ve suggested has been tested by me or by friends who’ve been in even worse shape than me. 😀

Your supplies will only be of strategic value if you educate yourselves; your equipment is only as good as your understanding of it. Train yourselves, print out manuals, etc.
And remember rule number 1:
Never tell anyone you’ve got a stock.
If the worst really does happen, those in the know will come knocking on your door – first at the door, and if you don’t give it to them, on the head.
